RUPERT VICTOR DENNISON
Rupert served with the 11th Battalion, Essex Regt.
The 1911 census records show Rupert as a 13-year-old schoolboy, living in East Haddon with his parents, 3 sisters and a younger brother.
He joined the Essex Regiment at the start of the war, and rose to the rank of L/Cpl.
He died after the war had ended, on 23rd March 1919 , aged 21, as a result of injuries (gas poisoning) received in France, and is buried in East Haddon cemetery. His headstone is the “standard” type used in all CWGC sites around the world.
