HOME page …
Barbra Konig, from Reading, has sent some information and pictures of her Father Ernie Clark, taken while he was living in East Haddon, having been evacuated here from London in 1940. Barbara writes:
Ernie was born in 1927, and lived in Hackney, East London with his mother, plus his elder brother and sister. Their father had died in 1929 caused by his having been gassed during WW1.
Ernie’s sister Norah died at age 18, also his brother John at age 15, both victims of the blitz on 16th October 1940.
During his time in East Haddon, Ernie stayed with Mrs K Grant.
After the war Ernie trained in Electrical Engineering at night school in Hackney, and in 1956 moved with his mother to Abingdon, to work at AERE Harwell, until his death in 1969.
